As part of QTM 2021, we’re partnering with artist Allie Aller and one of her favorite NYC garment district shops, M&S Schmalberg, to offer a special project kit that celebrates New York City’s textile heritage. M&S is a family-owned company that has been making custom fabric flowers for over 100 years, and Allie has worked with them on so many projects, they now feel like family to her!
This charming kit, designed by Allie as a special fundraiser just for Quilters Take a Moment, includes all the flowers you need to create an 11″ x 8.5″ mini quilt featuring a floral wreath surrounding an appliqued “Thank You” center.
Give the finished piece as a gift and/or take a photo of it and create your own custom Thank You cards. We’ll be sharing a QSOS interview with Allie soon about her work and this project. And kit customers will receive an invite to attend a kit tips & tricks session with Allie later this spring. We’re also planning a virtual tour of the M&S Schmalberg factory led by New Yorker Paula Nadelstern, internationally recognized quilter and designer.
